LiteSync with React Native - Expo

Hey all

I'm working on multiple apps that all should share the same database. The devices are in the same network and the entire network does not require internet connection.

All devices sync their database with each other over wifi and I saw that LiteSync would be very interesting!

I saw that there is a React Native demo, was anyone successful in using React Native with Expo? We switched our Apps to it and love the developer experience.

Would the maintainer provide guidance if I would do it?

Of course, I'd still pay for the license, but I would like to use LiteSync on react-native with Expo

If you want to try to port these changes to Expo, I can try to help you with that.

The question is: is there need to make a port or the existing repo would work? I have no experience with Expo to answer that. But the fact that they have their own port may answer the question.

Thanks for the updated link, I'll have a look.

Yes! Unfortunately, Expo does not support the forked sqlite package.
We have streamlined all our app to use Expo as we saw massive reductions in maintenance and upgrading efforts, but it comes with the drawback that not everything is supported.

Question:
I saw that LiteSpeed is forked from OctoDB. Would it be simpler to "just" port OctoDB and use that instead?
Does OctoDB support all features that LiteSpeed also supports?

We are mainly interested in peer-to-peer sync, where each mobile device is a master.

What is LiteSpeed? Can you post some link that shows that fork from OctoDB?

OctoDB is not even released yet...

Bernardo Hey Bernardo, sorry I of course meant LiteSync. Was asking because the LiteSync React Native package was forked off OctoDB

I forked the Expo repository and created this commit to add support for URIs on iOS

The same thing must be done for Android here

Feel comfortable to implement it on your own fork. I will not be able to continue this as the Expo packages organization appears too complex for my understanding. I can just give some basic directions.

One thing to notice is that the package must use the LiteSync library binaries instead of the native SQLite library. Both on Android and iOS.

Notice that there are some limitations for peer-to-peer synchronization.

You will need to inform the total number of nodes that are present on your local network on each of these nodes. The total node amount is required for consensus.
